Visually beautiful! Saw it in 3D at an IMAX theater-felt like I was right there! Sandra Bullock should at least get nominated for best actress! Special effects stunning! Just loved it! Would go see it again in a heart beat!!

Keep in mind that this film was post-converted to IMAX 3D. However, being remastered into IMAX format still makes the picture larger than that of a standard movie screen. This, combined with the great camera work by the director, enhances the scope of the film by engulfing you more into the vastness of space within the movie. The 3D, on the other hand, only slightly enhanced the experience, in my opinion. During the movie I noticed certain scenes that seemed like they were filmed with 3D in mind but didn't seem that much better than a 2D version of the film, to me anyway. Aside from one scene in particular (you'll know when you see it), the 3D was mainly used to add depth to the film, rather than having images "pop-out" of the screen. Not that that's a bad thing. Overall, I say it's not essential to see it in 3D. But if that's the only way to see it in IMAX, I say go for it. Either way, the movie itself is worth it!

Cuaron crams a whole lot into a 90-minute runtime.
The plot is simple- shuttle gets wrecked (in epic fashion) and the characters must find a way to survive. The film gets a lot of mileage from having only two actors on screen. Imagery is just beautiful, and the actors just nail it.
Some clunky dialogue here and there, but it doesn't detract from the picture. Technically, the way the director switches from 1st-to-3rd person is seamless- and the man loves his long takes!
If you can afford it, see it in IMAX 3D. Well worth it.

Suspense isn't really the word to describe this movie. Maybe intense is a better fit. You will be captivated from the beginning, if not by George Clooney's character, then certainly by the visual effects. The action starts almost immediately so don't buy popcorn because you won't have time to eat it before you start clenching your teeth and clinging to the armrests. If you had any question about Sandra Bullock's acting ability, this will answer them for you. She is in virtually every scene. Hell, she IS virtually every scene.
I guess if you are a fan of 3D, it is well worth seeing this movie in 3D. There sure is plenty flying through space. But I think the special effects were spectacular enough to stand on their own. So, any way you see this movie, it's a good one.
