quite an experience

This was more an experience then a movie. I really think this is about as close to being in space then most of us will ever be. Amazing effects and a solid story line make this film well worth watching. I do suggest catching this movie on the best screen you can, because to be honest I do not think the impact will be nearly as astounding on a TV or inadequate screen. SEE THIS IN THEATERS or you will be missing out! I rarely endorse 3D movies, but this one worked very well and was worth the experience. Sandra Bullock carried this film off amazingly well, and I was not sure how she would do in this, but she really had the chops to make this film special. Clooney was solid and provided an much needed supporting role, but this was all about Sandra and amazing SFX.

Uhh...meh.

Wow, really? I think movie hype is like an economic bubble. Big buildup and ultimate disappointment. When will I ever learn? Case in point: Gravity. The most entertaining part of this movie was mentally ticking off each physics-defying element overlooked. Can't wait to check them against the IMDB list of goofs. Orbital mechanics were not a priority when working this all out, I guess. The 3-D IMAX hurt my eyes (wow, floating globules of out-of-focus... spit?) and various pieces of hardware whanging around my head didn't have me quivering in visual shock and awe. And acting? Just the usual pool-deep range of expressive smirking from Clooney and the (annoying) intensity of Bullock's interminable hyperventilating. Note to director: turns out heavy breathing makes a crappy soundtrack. Plot was far-fetched and physically impossible. Should have saved the $33 on tickets and watched it for free on HBO some future Saturday night. Listen kids, this ain't an event you can't miss.

we went tonight for the show before regular release and i liked it, didnt LOVE it but it was a good flick.. the special effects were neat, but if you have vertigo AVOID. It is space, no aliens, space... so the plot is sort of... well... you know... and the acting is great, look who is in it... and yes, just the two of them... will not buy the video and dont need to see it again, but i give it an 8 out of 10.

I had to eat my words on this one. I thought the trailers looked ridiculous, but it was actually an incredibly immersive experience, and beyond the technical achievement it was a great movie too. Suspenseful, captivating, and emotional.

Gravity for Graphics and suspense

By Kubro
Written October 28, 2013
Liked it, didn't love it. I think it was worth the price of admission due to the graphics and suspense. The trouble is that a lot of things depicted we've seen before in either sci-fi movies or they were brought to life in reenactments of true stories. This movie doesn't have the story line or writing to pull you in like a decent sci-fi and it doesn't have the "gravity" of a real life story. It's an experience. I gripped my wife's hand as much or more than she gripped mine. Bullock and Clooney and the visual effects pull it off, but just.
