Sunshine Daydream - Grateful Dead Meet Up At The Movies

If you love or like the Grateful Dead, grab your tour buddies (from back in the day) and go see this movie. I is an excellent documentary about the putting on of one of the most legendary grateful dead shows ever, the Springfield Creamery Benefit that the Dead played at Veneta (or so) Oregon on 8/27/72. When I say this was a legendary show, I mean it. If you love good live music, go see this show. There is some nudity, so bring the kids.

Must see for Deadheads - although a little slow in parts...

As a long standing Deadhead with over 150 shows under my belt, it was just pure heaven to see this film. The Dead were YOUNG and fun and just joyous. My only issue with this movie comes from the songs that were chosen from 3 sets of music. Would have been nice to see some songs like Bertha, which I heard on Sirius Grateful Dead channel from the same concert.

Awesome music, but....

Well, I said awesome. The music was awesome, but frankly I'd like to see a pure concert film without the typical "oh, wow" commentary from fans and the animated sequences. I want to see the musicians all the time. Some of the best parts of the movie, though, were the short clips of earlier Dead, before 1972 when this concert occurred, including acid test stuff with Neal Cassidy. Yum!

Eh...could have been much better

For starters it started over an hour late. Then we were shown the Tie Dye twice, and the Fathom Events loop played for 20 minutes. By this time we figured the show would start, and instead we got a making of short film. The concert itself was way to short. While the music was fantastic, I know the entire theatre I was at was upset with the entire night. Last year's meet up was much better.
