This is an excellent movie, but I think you had to live through the McCarthy Era to appreciate the movie and the courage it took for Murrow to take on McCarthy.. McCarthy was a scourge on the Senate and America in general. The movie is well acted and David Strathairn is outstanding in the lead role.

David Strathairn is perfectly cast as iconic news journalist Edward R. Murrow in this atmospheric account of his public assailing of Senator Joseph McCarthy during the infamous Communist 'witch hunt" hearings in the early 1950s. George Clooney masterfully directs a great ensemble cast including himself, Robert Downey, Jr., Frank Langella and Patricia Clarkson. Gorgeous b&w photography enhances the themes of standing up to injustice and never compromising your ideals in the face of great personal risk. A great text-book example of how to create the zeitgeist of an era without a big flashy budget. Well done film all around!
