During the Civil War, Federal and Confederate troops clashed in the furious Battle of Antietam, giving the field located near Hagerstown the dubious distinction of "The Bloodiest Field." In this installment of the PBS travel series, host James Avery focuses on a reenactment of the famous battle. Thousands participate in the costume drama as the mock battle brings to life the events of that fateful day. In addition, Avery leads the viewer through a look at medicine as practiced during the Civil War, and also gives a tour of other battle sites of the war. ~ Alice Day, Rovi
