Gloriana (Zoe Rae), a child of the stage, is taken in by Doctor Manning (William Canfield) and his family when her mother (Virginia Foltz) dies of shock after hearing her husband has been killed in France. Mrs. Manning (Clarissa Selwynne) spends her time helping the needy in India. One day, Gloriana hears her tell some of her fellow do-gooders that the poor should be helped at any price. So Gloriana takes some money out of a desk and gives it to the family of Miriam, the governess (Irene Hunt). At first Miriam is suspected of the theft, but then Gloriana reveals what she did, and why. After that, Mrs. Manning comes to the conclusion that charity begins at home. ~ Janiss Garza, Rovi
