Yeah! Gimmie Gimmie

I saw this at the Chicago film festival (CIFF) October 2012. This is one of those films most relevant and interesting to a demographic unlikely to find it. As a neighborhood watch type I don’t find anybody in this movie lovable and no one at CPD is going to validate the idea of innocent tagging, but this kind of entertainment might go a long way toward reducing violence if it was available to the kind of people it’s about. Anyway it’s a nice story. You would think the dialogue improvised, but that question was asked at CIFF. Only the scene of Ginnie (Zoe Lescaze) and Malcolm (Ty Hickson) on the bed, the rest was written by Adam Leon, the writer/director and someone who certainly appears a bonafide member of a different tribe. At least one review singles out Zoe Lescaze, who otherwise seems to be a career intern, for ridicule, but scene stealing would seem a more reasonable charge, IMHO.
