Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
I was offended at the comment by Garfield in London, "No! Don't do the Ugly American thing!" as the other animal urinated on a guard's foot. FYI: public urination is allowed in Europe, it is not allowed in the USA. I'm tired of seeing movies, targeting children, that bash Americans. Obviously, a very uneducated and uncultured person wrote the screenplay for this children's film. First of all, read the book "The Ugly American" to learn the true meaning of the term, then learn more about American culture vs. European culture before writing a screenplay for children based on an American cat in Europe. Having had more than enough experience in Europe and with Europeans, I can tell those who see Garfield's comment as harmless that it is not harmless. The hatred toward Americans, based on this kind of ignorance in all forms of media, abounds the world over, yes by non-terrorist Europeans, too. Let's educate the world about our qualities and stop encouraging the hate and ignorance.
