Good film, basic plot, if your expecting a Godfather type Mobster film this isn't it. Great performances from the cast, I mean Sean Penn's in it you know what can you expect from him. Their is mainly fiction and not really any truth to the story of the real gangster squad or Mickey Cohen but its a good little action film and was worth my 12 dollars.

Pointless violence and gore, and no real heart in the story. More like a cartoon. Sean Penn was ridicolous in his role of the villain, Mickey Coen. Too much shooting, and way too much gore. No empathy with any of the characters. I should ask for a refund. Thanks for checking, but this is a bomb!!!! John Leland'

My kind of movie: hot guys and lots of action!!! Even my husband enjoyed it, even though he always tries to dislike any movie w/ Ryan Goshling in it! All the actors did a great job, and it was interesting to watch Ryan Goshling act beside the actor from My Two Dads b/c they always reminded me of each other. Story line kept it interesting and made it not feel like an almost two hour movie. I recommend it!!

Not Much of a Story About Untouchable Thugs

Sean Penn overplays Mickey Cohen in an ineffective and ridiculous manner. His gang of thugs do things like pour acid on pretty women whenever Cohen believes he's being slighted. The movie basically establishes him as an untouchable thug from the beginning and doesn't do much else to explain his crimes or his racket, so we don't really know what's important to his operation. Josh Brolin plays the LAPD cop who gets commissioned (along with several other A-list stars) to take Cohen down, basically at all costs. Unfortunately, all that happens is the LAPD's gang of thugs disrupt Cohen's operation by going on a killing spree of their own. This movie is disjointed, has no real story, and lacks character development. In fact, each of the actors is so self-absorbed that we never get to care about or understand a single character. It's a mess that you should pass on. There isn't a single redeeming quality to this film, despite all of the talented actors.
