Kept my interest

I took my two youngest grandchildren to see GI Joe: Retaliation 3D. My 10 year-old granddaughter and I liked it. My 13 year-old grandson said it was so-so. Not what I expected. The movie did show a lot of battle violence. I liked the action. I wasn't bored during the movie. The actors were good. No deep characterization, though. That's okay. Typical plot for this kind of movie. Nothing special. That's okay, too. Guess I just like action movies.

Good film. Lots of action. Stayed to end of credits, hoping to see something more to set up sequel, hoping there was another scene with a Joe character. Some things left unexplained. Unlike previous film which had International members, this one focused on US team. Some character moments from previous film are expanded/explained.

Great movie, nail-biting cliff scenes, Dwayne Johnson really steals the show! I thought there would be a teaser after the credits, no such luck! Go see it and hope they make another!

Better than the first one...

On one side, it's very much a video game-like plot with lots of things blowing up, the Rock's Roadblock being large and in charge, and Lee Byung-hun's Stormshadow being a hot asian male with swords. On the other, I enjoyed it a lot more than "The Rise of Cobra" since Retaliation wasn't trying to be a romantic drama within a military action film. The lack of a cheesy Pop song as a send off also helped. The movie is not exactly high art or memorable, but it's worth a viewing if you're looking for a distraction, though I felt that 3D was wasted on it.

So enjoyed the movie. Saw it in 3D and a number of times almost jumped out of my seat. Some humor and lots and lots of action. Feel it is a movie that kids 10 and up can see.
