This move was way more hyped than developed. The plot is pretty straight forward, if you believe in over the top villians trying to take over the world. But played out on screen is a jumble of action scenes that are supposed to be enteratining. However, the shakey camera work and too-fast movements just don't lend itself well to the 3D format; things just become a blur. And you would think that Channing Tatum could redeem the picture, but he's on screen for 10 mins tops! Totally not worth the ticket price. I say at least wait for Redbox.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this movie. It was very enjoyable and would recommend it to my friends.family. I'll admit I was sometimes confused at who was the good guy and who was the bad guy.

The best thing about this movie: Every scene with Bruce Willis in it. The sword fighting scenes are also pretty good, particularly the one on the side of the cliff.
Everything else was kind of meh. Seeing futuristic helicopters and stuff was neat but not exceptional. Maybe I've seen too many action movies, but there wasn't as much "omg that was awesome!" as I was hoping for.
All the good guy characters are new and weren't in the first movie, which I didn't like either, the exception being the guy that you never see his face and he doesn't talk (Snake Eyes). I'm all for new characters, but what about the old? Sheesh. That said, the new characters did very well and were fun to watch interact.
There was one thing I really didn't like, though. In 3D, they kept throwing things directly at you instead of just slightly past you, very annoying.
If you liked the first movie you'll probably like this one, but don't expect miracles. It's not bad, but it's not great either.

On one side, it's very much a video game-like plot with lots of things blowing up, the Rock's Roadblock being large and in charge, and Lee Byung-hun's Stormshadow being a hot asian male with swords. On the other, I enjoyed it a lot more than "The Rise of Cobra" since Retaliation wasn't trying to be a romantic drama within a military action film. The lack of a cheesy Pop song as a send off also helped.
The movie is not exactly high art or memorable, but it's worth a viewing if you're looking for a distraction, though I felt that 3D was wasted on it.

I needed to change my mind and thought let's go and see a stupid movie, turn my brain off and enjoy some special effects. Well, this movie was so stupid (weak lines, actors do not even seem to be into it) that even with my low expectations I was really disappointed.
If you're very young like 14 years old, you might find this fun.
