  HUH?

  I don't get it. The serial killers talk to the audience. It was interesting(strange). Thats about the best compliment I can give it. There where entire scenes that should have been cut out...like watching Naomi Watts (who is tied up) trying to get off the ground and on her feet for 5 minutes!!! boring!!! Or watching her and Tim Roth trying to dry a cell phone for even longer!!! what was this director thinking. I sat in the theater during the credits with my mouth dropped open trying to understand what I just watched. Then I got a headache from the obnoxiously loud screamo music playing in the credits. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

  Michael Pitt..I do love thee

  I didn't know what to expect with this re-make. I'm not typically a fan of those, especially when the original is so fantastic. However, I've always adored Michael Pitt and his transformation into characters. I was convinced for this movie, he used no script. His natural ability to sound like everything is just popping into his head is unlike any other young actor I've seen. I really enjoyed it. From the beginning to the end. The entire cast ran with these cir***stances. Had the indie feel, but not too artsy that the average Joe wouldn't understand it-believe me, I went with him, and he understood it! Go see it while its still out.

  This is the worst movie I have ever seen.

  Take my advice and do not waste your time. At least I borrowed it from the library and didn't actually spend money to see it. I really thought about just not returning it so that others may be spared!

  This has to be one of the worst movies i have ever seen. And it is completely unfair to the characters in the movie. And the people watching it. Once in the middle of the movie, you think, yes finally they got what was coming to them. But it seemed to be, to good to be true. And at the end your just thinking, there has to be someway they get revenge, or something as been forshadowed. But no it leaves you the repition from the begining of the movie. And that you realize wow i wasted 2 hours of my life and 6.99 watching this movie. I could have spent that time with someone i loved. But this movie certainly was made by the directors to be funny games, more like twisted games if you ask me. These kinda of movies should never be allowed to watch or go inside the home of the buyer of this redicoulous movie. But the one thing you do get out of it is. "Well at least you can't see any other movies as bad as that." So this would have to be a -100000 out of ten. If you bought the movie GOD SPEED

  it's an art film, has some flaws

  people go to this expecting something like hostel or some other violent thriller and are disappointed when they leave. this is an art film, and while it has some flaws, is actually pretty good. there are some really long takes that are pulled off with pretty solid acting, especially by naomi watts. a lot of the violence takes place off screen which can be effective if you appreciate the movie for what it is. if you expecting to see lots of blood and gore and the two antagonists bashing heads in, again, you will be disappointed. but the way the direct shot a lot of the action off screen was actually done well, i thought. if you are into mainstream blockbusters, don't waste your time. if you can appreciate a good art film, it's definitely worth the money.

  Shocking

  I have not seen the original, but this one is very good. The acting is incredible for this type of film. And the ending is somewhat expected, but not entirely. Very good shock value film.

  I thought this was a good movie. A little slow in the middle, but, the end of the movie was good.
  I think instead of alot of movie drama it was more of a real life situation. It was very good and
  I would recommend going to see it. The bad guys were scary, and everyone did a great job at
  acting their parts.

  AMAZING

  THIS MOVIE IS NUMBER ONE...IT IS SICK..THE DIRECTOR MUST HAVE A SICK MIND...ITS SUCH A MIND PLAYING MOVIE..NOT FOR KIDS...MOVIE IS VERYYY DISTURBING..THE ENDING IS SO TWISTED..=)

  This was the worst movie I have ever seen. I love psycho-thrillers and this plot had such potential but what a disappointment. There are so many scenes that are just downright boring I actually walked out. I couldn't stand the boredom anymore to sit through another 30 minutes. Plus the soundtrack is horrendous!! The appalling screaming/heavy metal music gave me a headache. I wouldn't recommend this movie to my worst enemy!!

  Dark

  So this is what it must be like to watch a snuff film, or Hostel, or Captivity, any of those types of films. Very well made film, excellent directing and acting, just not my type of film. It was very difficult to make it all the way this through, I just I kept hanging on to the hope there'd be some sort of redemption in the director's efforts. It's his right not give any and maybe he thought he did so I'm pretty disappointed to not have a Director's Commentary on the DVD (and I would've had to listen to it audio only the second time anyway). I can guess at what he was trying to preach but would have liked to have heard his purpose behind this film in his own words. There was no lesson here I needed to learn. I don't harm people for fun or enjoy watching it. Very disturbing piece.

  Not So Funny

  A disturbing but brilliant film. Hanneke makes terrific use of the medium. It recalls other films - Swimming Pool, American Psycho and Existenz that take the typical narrative format and turns it on its head.

  Experience it...

  Considering that I am a huge fan of conventional horror movies, I knew that watching this movie would be a challenge. I'm glad a I did as it destroyed all the rules of a typical horror movie, breaking the fourth wall and drawing me into the nightmare. I have not seen the 1997 German original, but I've read that this is an exact carbon copy minus the actors and subtitles. I will check it out.
  
  We are all so used to seeing fast paced cut and diced editing in movies. I noticed that the long and drawn out scenes made everyone in the theater (including myself) really fidgety. I'm sure this was one of many intentions of the director. The other intention was to throw it all back at the audience and ask ourselves why we are seeing this movie. Is it because we want to be entertained through violence? Well, entertianing it was not, but it was an experience. You will either love or loathe this movie. It certainly left a messy residue in my brain...and that's a good thing

  Waste of money

  This movie was a waste of my time and money. There was absolutely no plot, no build up, no nothing. So much more could have been done with the music, and it was overall ridiculous. I left the theatre pissed off that I wasted almost two hours of my life watching this. Please do not waste your time seeing it. To characterize this as a "thriller" and "scary" is not even close to reality. I probably could have fallen asleep during it if I hadn'te forced myself to watch it in hopes it would get better. Never did.

  Good but flawed and unsatisfying

  By now you probably know that this movie is about two psychopaths who terrorize a family of three. And you probably also know it's a remake of a 1997 Austrian movie from a decade ago, which makes the plot developments even more surprising (has nothing changed in 10 years?!) It's more of a classier version of the Saw or Hostel movies than anything else so if you are into torture sadistic stories, then you'll have a blast; otherwise, if you like your plots with a satisfying ending, you may not like this one. I was particularly annoyed and exhasperated by a 20 minute cell phone scene that could have been removed from the movie without altering anything. It's supposed to be a social commentary on violence as well as a commentary on the traditional Hollywood endings but it's pointless on both. However, the movie does have great artistic merits, it has plenty of thrilling moments, and Naomi Watts provides a hell of a performance.
