    Friday 2/13/2009

Marcus Nispel and Michael Bay are back from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2003 with the "new" Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th. Their two movies are eerily similar in too many ways, including the acting and the abrupt jolts at unsuspecting moments (Not to mention its noticeable similarity to Adam Green's Hatchet in 2006). This Friday remake appears to draw a more sophomoric audience as well as the loyal horror movie fans. Mix an attractive cast, alcohol and drugs, and plenty of nudity with a machete and a madman out for revenge and you get Friday the 13th (2009). Even though most reviewers are saying there isn't much depth to the story, I enjoyed the majority of it. (B-)

    Easily the Best Friday. Easily...

    by TPJR

Listen up, anyone who actually knows what they're talking about will tell you the same thing I'm about to. It's not the 80's anymore, and what was scary back then isn't now. What worked in a movie back then won't exactly work today... This movie does a fantastic job of both updating, and restarting the series for today's audience. I'm not some new Friday the 13th fan just jumping on the Jason bandwagon; I've been watching these movies since I was a kid. I own all the originals and have seen them more times than I can count, I'm a true Jason fan, and this new installment is easily the best to date. They go with the classic Friday formula, kids in the woods, drugs, sex, and plenty of kills. But Jason has never been as threatening as he is now, and he's not even an unstoppable zombie yet. Now he runs, he's smarter, and less forgiving than ever... It's a "Must Go" in my opinion, but this is definitely not for everyone hence the "Go". Leave the kids at home folks, trust me.

Friday The 13th remake a success

    by

As a fan of the Friday The 13th films I awaited eagerly to see the remake of the original film. I was not disappointed. The film is not a scene for scene remake but is instead a retelling of the story. The killer of this film is not Jasons' mother as in the original but Jason himself. Be warned: the Jason in this film is not the slow lumbering brute of the previous films but instead a fast and furious killing machine. With the right amount of gore to satisfy the gore lovers and enough T&A to satisfy the rest of the crowd Friday The 13th the remake is a welcome addition to the legend which is Jason Voorhees.
