    Friday 2/13/2009

Marcus Nispel and Michael Bay are back from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2003 with the "new" Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th. Their two movies are eerily similar in too many ways, including the acting and the abrupt jolts at unsuspecting moments (Not to mention its noticeable similarity to Adam Green's Hatchet in 2006). This Friday remake appears to draw a more sophomoric audience as well as the loyal horror movie fans. Mix an attractive cast, alcohol and drugs, and plenty of nudity with a machete and a madman out for revenge and you get Friday the 13th (2009). Even though most reviewers are saying there isn't much depth to the story, I enjoyed the majority of it. (B-)

    Easily the Best Friday. Easily...

    by TPJR

Listen up, anyone who actually knows what they're talking about will tell you the same thing I'm about to. It's not the 80's anymore, and what was scary back then isn't now. What worked in a movie back then won't exactly work today... This movie does a fantastic job of both updating, and restarting the series for today's audience. I'm not some new Friday the 13th fan just jumping on the Jason bandwagon; I've been watching these movies since I was a kid. I own all the originals and have seen them more times than I can count, I'm a true Jason fan, and this new installment is easily the best to date. They go with the classic Friday formula, kids in the woods, drugs, sex, and plenty of kills. But Jason has never been as threatening as he is now, and he's not even an unstoppable zombie yet. Now he runs, he's smarter, and less forgiving than ever... It's a "Must Go" in my opinion, but this is definitely not for everyone hence the "Go". Leave the kids at home folks, trust me.

Friday The 13th remake a success

    by

As a fan of the Friday The 13th films I awaited eagerly to see the remake of the original film. I was not disappointed. The film is not a scene for scene remake but is instead a retelling of the story. The killer of this film is not Jasons' mother as in the original but Jason himself. Be warned: the Jason in this film is not the slow lumbering brute of the previous films but instead a fast and furious killing machine. With the right amount of gore to satisfy the gore lovers and enough T&A to satisfy the rest of the crowd Friday The 13th the remake is a welcome addition to the legend which is Jason Voorhees.

    Good old fashioned slash

Yay! At Crystal Lake, teenagers are still dumb as dirt, Jason lives forever and thanks to Michael Bay things go boom.

This is a mash-up of the original Friday the 13th & Friday the 13th Part 2, for you purists out there. Okay, so there's about 10 minutes of the first film, just enough to set the stage. Then Jason makes it out and does his usual hack-n-slash. The special effects are old-school (by that I mean latex and kayro syrup blood rather than CGI) and yet they still stand up to today's super-high resolution film by looking cool, not super-phony. The actors and actresses (if I can use the terms) do alright, but considering they're just meat for the machete, they don't really have too much to do except scream, run and die. But hey, that's what we're here for, right?

You like horror movies? Then you've already made up your mind to see this. But if you have any reservations at all, go for it!

    Such a bad movie!.......BECAUSE YOU CAN'T WATCH A MOVIE

Ok. first off i loved this movie better than the last 6 we got. Here is my problem with the people who say this was a bad movie. #1 Michael Bay. Ok He produced this movie rite? ok so i guess he made this movie. NO NO NO! FAIL! It's The directors who made this movie, the editors the writers, the actors the special fx team, the stunt team. NOT HIM! So quit acting like he did something to make this movie! You guys take it as if he directed this movie. no he didnt so shut up! #2 the gore/sex. Ok One there must be a lot of guys who do not have sex because the sex in this movie is more realistic. I never had more fun doing anything besides sex so this is more real. the gore factor is more real too. WTF is wrong with reality? You act like sense jason didnt twist off a girls head with his hands it was a bad movie. Thats so GAY! Last #3 It's the same as the others. Holy god i hear this "oh it's nothing different" besides the kidnapping.YOU WOULD CRY IF IT WAS FRESH AND DIFFERENT TOO! SO STFU!

Good movie, and people need to get there facts straight.

I went to the midnight showing of Friday the 13th and enjoyed it. The thing i hate about the Friday the 13th movies is how they make the teenagers out to be. Most of the women are whores and the guys are always horny and they all drink and do drugs. To me in this movie it seemed like they were making fun of the fact that is what the older ones did. The teenagers were very over the top with wanting to have sex, drinking, and doing drugs but thats not the story here. Jason was better in this movie than the previous ones in my opinion. Also one person on here said they hated that Jason ran, cause he didn't run in the other ones, but if you go back and watch the second one, Jason runs and chases the chick back towards his house. So i guess that one doesnt count either. If you like Jason and Friday the 13th movies go see this, if you hate remakes then don't go cause you will find something wrong with it.

    Pretty Darn Good

    by

I was a little weary at first on going to see this, but my love for horror films just made me want to go, so my brother and I went just about an hour ago.
I have to say, I was walking out of that movie with a big smile plastered on my face and shaking all over. This was really good- had a lot of action and blood and gore to keep you on the edge of your seat. Yea, there was some nudity and what not- but my goodness, it wasn't that bad- and this is speaking from a girl !
Anyway, I say that this is 'Must Go!' I'm already telling you that you will thoroughly enjoy this movie- everyone at the theater did that's for sure.
It's got everything you want in a horror movie- including some comedy to keep you humored. =)

    great movie hahaha

First off the movie should have been rated NR or X is was not suitable for any child under the ages of 14 or 15. There were tons of kids there of course most parents like myself I sure thought it would be a typical Friday the 13th with some sex scenes but guess what it's almost porno. And it was disapointting with the killings. Jason looks good but he doesn't kill in the same manner as the past, my son was annoyed at the fact that they had Jason running in a scene or two.

20 Somethings in the Woods getting Drunk and trying to get Lucky - Whoo Hoo!

They did a good job I think. I jumped a couple times. Did you see the wheel chair hanging on the wall? :-> Was a fun time...theater was packed!

For all the morons complaining that the movie was OMG! Just Sex & Killing!...DUH!!! That's what Friday the 13th is all about. 20 Somethings in the Woods getting Drunk, trying to get Lucky and getting Murdered. Whoo Hoo! No deep murder mystery here. This IS a re make of the original Friday the 13th...a movie about 20 Somethings in the Woods getting Drunk and trying to get Lucky you know? Or did you miss that part?

    Jason's Back

In the latest installment of the horror franchise, there is an heir of "back to basics." The film follows groups of teenagers trying to party and then being hunted by a masked killer; the premise for almost every slasher film. However this movie had a stylistic approach to how it was shot, and the scenes were all crafted brilliantly. Creepy houses, murky bathtub water, and sunlight trapped in forest trees have never been so unsettling. However, the intelligence of Friday the 13th ends there. Jason has no explanation for being other than, "he's mad, misses his mommy, and hates intruders." There is practically no character development, yet there is potential and humor. The one thing that this movie will do is make you laugh and then try and scare you. This new Jason acts more like Leatherface, except more clever. In whole, the movie provides a good time, but certainly isn't anything special on it's own, but in the F13 series or even the horror world this movie is very well done.

    Ok Movie

    by marks76

This movie was ok for what it was. Yes it was way over the top in reguards to sex and drugs but lets face it sex sells. Anyway some of the complaints people have been having are rediculous who cares how old Jason's mother is in this film it doesn't matter. Also being upset that someone ran in parts is absolutly silly. The plot is about what you would expect for a slasher film no better no worse. *** SPOILER ALERT *** As for keeping someone alive for weeks on end i had no problem with this as it was made clear before she was taken that she looked like the woman in the locket who was jasons mother. He would not have killed someone who he thought was his mother. Anyway if you enjoy slasher films this is worth the cost of admission if you can see it during a matinee. If you don't enjoy a traditional slasher film just turn around and walk away.

    Horror Film that Falls FLAT

    by Saya

It was BAD. I'm all about bad horror films. The campier the better so my expectations for fun is pretty f-ing low. It fell flat on so many levels it HURT!

    THE SUCK:
    - Pacing: Pacing makes or breaks horror films. Jason killing folks was very ho hum & BORING.
    - Acting: Acting was unusually bad in the movie. The only people I felt anything for were Chewie & Lawrence. They were the only ones w/ good lines.
    - Nudity: LOLWHUT? 3 pairs of boobs, 2 pairs were BAD FAKE. I was afraid that they were going to take my eyes out through the screen. Hollywood, please stop assaulting my eyes w/ fake boobs. If I wanted that I could watch p**n.
    - Gore: Not enough & badly done. I was bored by the way Jason killed people. Eviscerate them! You're big enough, tear their heads off. MAKE THEM SUFFER! This is not what happed.

This movie was all about not enough: gore, campiness, suspense. Jason wasn't scary & most of the deaths were stupid. The one good thing about the movie was the background music.

FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009) ranks as one of the BEST in the Friday the 13th film series!!!

    by

My two favorite FRIDAY THE 13TH films are parts three and four, and this new reboot of the series ranks at the top with those two. I am a FRIDAY THE 13TH/JASON fan since the original came out in 1980 (30 years a fan) and this film finally gets back to to roots of the original four movies. Jason runs again, he is human, and it is great to see him in Crystal Lake again. I definitely recommend this film. I have seen it FIVE times already, and it gets better with each viewing. I am going again this weekend.

    Movie is Grrrreattt!

For those who complain about him(Jason) being to "human", please, please get a clue.. this is a remake and an re-introduction to the Friday the 13th Franchise. For REAL Ft13th Fans out there they will know that in the first couple movies (meaning parts 2,3,4) he was more human than he was monster. In the earlier Ft13th movies he was always shown running and even showing human emotion, i.e. his mothers sweater. It wasnt till the later movies that he was brought "back from the dead" as more a "monster"/"vengful spirit". This movie compliments the series whole heartidly and is a great addition to the franchise. This is better than any of the recent Jason films dating back to Jason takes Manhattan. Please stop nitpicking at little dumb details and enjoy the movie for what it is, especially us children of the 80's.
