Tarantino tells the story of Django, a black man that went from being enslaved to being a hero. He didn't portray the time of slavery as bad as he could have, but being a spaghetti western, it was true enough. Foxx was great as Django, but towards the end his comedic personality started to seep through. DiCaprio was okay, no real depth there, but Waltz as Dr. Schultz was excellent as expected. Samuel Jackson played 'Head Negro' Stephen with great nuance. His character acted the old fool, but was actually the evil calculating henchman that made the dynamics of the characters more enjoyable. Kerry Washington had her moments, and gave us a clear picture of the abuse black women suffered in those times. Directing, Cinematography, set and costume were on point. Though the pacing slowed in the middle, and the tone changed from western to heist movie, DJANGO UNCHAINED IS the Modern Classic Western. Geek Soul Brother gives it 4.5 out of 5 COSMIC AFROS.
