This very good film draws on the time-honored theme that life - and death - are unpredictable. One fateful event can dramatically change many lives. Without giving away the details, this film revolves around an affair between two married individuals. Through masterful body language, George Clooney (sp?) lends depth to his role (work-absorbed father of two challenging daughters) that might seem more shallow in the hands of lesser actors. (And until now I have frequently thought his roles in films were somewhat shallow and dependent on the marketing of his pleasant personal appearance. But here he comes off admirably as an adult, albeit slightly immature at times.) The daughters (17 and 11?) are well acted, particularly the older daughter (played by Shaillene Woodley. Unfortunately, her character evolves from "mad at Dad" to "mad at Mom" in a portrayed time frame too short for true believability. Not her fault, a writing problem.
