Such a fun and quick paced film that highlights the child-like and womanly charms of Holywood's most beautiful stars. Based on Colin Clark's memoir's, it gives insight into her moods & thoughts and fears & challenges. The world had her under a microscope.
Eddie Redmayne's performance as Colin is equally as important. We see her through his boy next door eyes and he makes the audience feel we are spending our time with her as well.
As a film though, Kenneth Branaugh is miscast as Olivier. I can't buy into him being the actor's actor and perfectionist after seeing him skillfully play the bafoonish Gilderoy Lockhart in the second POTTER film. Not to discredit Branaugh in any way. He was miscast.
Oscar fans must see Williams' efforts. It is as deep and skillful as Mirren's QUEEN and Hoffman's CAPOTE.
Well worth matinee prices.
