This one didn't work for me. I felt nothing for 3/4 of the film and it makes perfect sense why.
The characters are lost as beginners and don't know their way. How am I to know my way if I am to follow them?
Plummer's performance is crowning. He is completely believable as a late-life closet leaver.
McGregor is well cast as his son who has been taught nothing of companionship via his folks' marriage of convenience.
Laurent plays the love interest of McGregor's character and is the most charming and wonderful actress I have seen in a while on screen. However, her thick French accent needed subtitling. I understood about half of what she was saying.
They subtitled the dog, but not Laurent......figures.
It is an open ending piece perhaps better enjoyed rented at home.
