    Yuck

What a blazing disappointment. Short movie, very short on laughs.. I felt like I saw 75% of the movie in the previews.

Hotel Transylvania was 1000 times funnier, more clever, and just plain enjoyable by comparison.

    Beautifully written story

    by

Disney spent a lot of money advertising this movie. From the various trailers I thought I knew what the story was about. But I still laugh when the kids did crazy things with the science project. The only segment of the movie that the trailer did not give away was in the last 15 minutes.

To me the story has some similarity with Ted which I found equally funny. Both dealt with a boy/man and his relationship with his best friend. But Frankenweenie is definitely a lot suitable for children than Ted is.

If you watch many movies this year and saw bits and pieces of the trailer, I can only say that this movie is not what you'd expect. You know what is going to happen but you don't really know why or how until you watch it. I believe this is the best children's movie this year.

Tim Burton rocked it one more time

    by kso721

Frankenweenie was absolutely DOPE! Visual textures and stylings were breathtaking. Even almost got teary eyed a few times.... Soft spot for dogs i guess. Tim Burton killed it one more time. So beautifully done. Paid many many homages to previous thrillers besides the obvious Frankenstein. ie, Godzilla, Beetlejuice, Pet Cemetery, just to name a few. While a little loud in the IMAX setting with the lightning for younger more docile children, it's good fun for the whole family. Highly suggest it even if you're not taking the kiddos. Surprise was my 2 yo daughter sitting through the whole thing?her first movie experience.

    Bland kiddie movie

    by jhs39

I found this monster themed kiddie movie to be fairly dull and uninspired. It isn't funny or scary and the story goes completely off the rails in the second half. Tim Burton fans will likely enjoy this more than I did but I think Burton stopped being an interesting director around the time he did his first Batman film and that he's only done one or two good films since then--Frankenweenie continues his long streak of films that should have been much, much better. On the positive side, iFrankenweenie doesn't suck nearly as much as Dark Shadows did.

Make sure to get the right glasses!

    by jdwyr

So I went to AMC Lowes in Cherry Hill and the guy at the front door gave me and my daughter the wrong 3D glasses. I then when back (because everything was blurry) and the guy proceeded to give us the wrong glasses again. I thought I was crazy. We finally caught a manger with about 15 minutes to go and he gave us the right ones.

Wow! What a movie the last ten minutes was. I think back at some of the other parts and wished I had been watching in 3D. Definitely a cool Halloween movie to see in 3D.

    Old school tim burton!

This movie shows that tim burton still has it and hasn't completely left us. This movie is scary and depressing so kids might not be to fond of it but enjoyed Frankenweenie the style of the movie is realy odd but interesting and i thought the black and white woild be distracting but it really isn't. One thing this movie does really well is the voice acting i really enjored edgar in the movie he was by far my favorite part. I would give this movie a 6.5/10

    Frankenweenie

Took our grandchild who is 7 to the movie. We all loved it. I love the use of the characters. Tim Burton took a classic horror film and made it FUN for everyone.

Good Movie, what you'd expect from Burton

Took my 9yo daughter to see it in IMAX quality. Movie is a fun show, with a dark undertone. Again, typical of Burton. My 9yo kept saying Gross, but laughed throughout.

Good show. Don't waste the extra money on IMAX though. In fact, 3D is probably overkill on this one. Just my opinion though.

    disappointing

SO excited to see any Tim Burton flick--long-time fan. Originally a short animated film--Tim Burton's first creation for Disney when he was an intern, so I was excited to see what he did to stretch it to a full-length film, but also hesitant. We saw it opening day in IMAX for $16 per ticket. In black and white, the film was NOT much different from watching it in 2-D format. For that price, I certainly expected much more. The characters could have been great, but they were not fully developed, and they were clearly all charicatures of someone else or another of Burton's characters from other stories. We did not have enough time with any of the characters to get to know them. Neither the plot nor the relationships were fully fleshed out . The film is just a hollow skeleton without any real development. As the plot began to get exciting, every problem was so immediately resolved, that there was no time or room for a story or tension to develop. Atmosphere and artwork are its strengths.

For you if you like Tim Burton

Having seen his original live action Frankenweenie, this story was pretty much the same. animation let him do more visually and it looks very cool.
The story is kind of creepy by nature and it's certainly not for a sensitive child.

    Did not like

    by

Black an white, but could get past this, the first half had some cute parts, but really did not like the violence level, nor the ending. NOT for children that may fear monsters. Very "dark" film.

    Great family movie!

Fun for everyone! For adults keeping track of old movie references per minute is a fun challenge. Young kids will like the pace and style of the movie -- even thought it is a B&W format! The IMAX 3D was one of the best uses of this technology I've experienced on screen.

    Good Fun

Not one of Burton's best, but still a fun movie to see with the family. Although it might be too scary for kids under 7, my 8 and 11 year old had a good time.

Kind of a weird kids movie!

My nephew, who is 6, fell asleep in this movie. It was late of course, but if a movie captures his attention, like Spiderman 3, he stays awake. I thought some of the parts of the movie were a bit gross for ME even, let alone some of the kids that come to see the movie. My ... how kids movies have changed. I guess they like all this gross stuff ... it's just weird to me.
