For Hennes Skull (For Her Sake) is historically important as the first all-talking Swedish film. Scandinavian screen favorite Gosta Ekman stars as Gunnar, a young furrier. Gunnar finds himself in the middle of a scandal when a cute young bride named Isabella (Inga Tidblad) leaves her husband (Haken Westergren) for a handsome young furrier. The plot takes several surprising turns thereafter, culminating with Gunnar finding success as a stage actor. Establishing a tradition that would persist throughout the 1950s, the American censors removed the most charming scene in For Hennes Skull, when the husband passionately kisses his new bride while the latter is soaking in a bathtub. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
