In Kristin Booth's short For All the Marbles, ten-year-old elementary schooler Jeff plans to use his cat's eye marble as a shoe-in to win the Universal Marble Championship at recess. But at the last waning moment, seconds before Jeff can take the pivotal shot, Cricker - one of Jeff's schoolmates and a playground bully - seizes the marble and hurtles it to the opposite side of the schoolyard. A determined Jeff embarks on a quest through the danger-filled playground to retrieve it, even venturing, on his own, through the "big kids" area. But even if Jeff manages to reclaim the marble, he may not make it back to the championship in time to take the final shot. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
