Lots of Fun

Great remake!! I enjoyed it. The storyline is basically the same, but a bit more modern. I really enjoyed Julianne in this role. I think I prefer Kevin Bacon as Ren though. I was definitely laughing & bouncing throughout the movie. I recognized Comfort from SYTYCD as one of the dancers in the beginning! That was fun!! It's hard to compare though, because there are parts of the old one I liked more.. and parts of the new one I liked more!! But I definitely enjoyed this movie!!

I loved this movie, I think its for all ages, the acting was very good,loved the music and the dancing. it was sad, it was funny and just all around great movie!

My 14 year old daughter saw it with her friends and said it was her favorite movie, "it made me happy and made me want to dance"! Best recommendation, my husband I will definitely go!

Tries too hard

Everyone in this movie is ok, but in general it just seems they are trying too hard to pa homage and yet be different than the original. In the end the movie is too long and it drags, and even the dance numbers (apart from Let's Hear It For the Boy, which is the best few minutes of the movie) seem tired and forced. Don't waste your money. Stick to the original.

Awesome!

Loved it! I like how they kept some of the originality from the older movie and incorporated it into some modern twists in the new movie. The only thing I think could have been better was the scene when Ren is dancing in the warehouse by himself.....the music just did not compliment all the dancing he was doing. I was thinking to myself, "ok, this just doesn't go together at all." Other than that, my feet were dancing in my seat and I was singing along in my head!

As good and better in parts as the original!

I LOVED the oriinal and this one was as good. Parts were better because things were explained better. It did not change the story and was really worth seeing at full price! Jullian Huff was REALLY good! I was surprised but she is an actress!

I saw it last night and it was so good!! Julianne hough is amazing in it as was Kenny Wormald even though it was their first leading roals. The music and dancing was fun and amazing. It was good, definitely not better than the original though. Overall, it was cheesey and predictable, but at the same time it was still cute. Not amazing, but not that bad either.

I loved this film. The acting was amazing, it was predictable, but still amazing. The story is so touching. This is such a good film for highschool kids as they can relate to it so much.

This is not a movie for kids.

I loved the movie. I think the writers/producers did a great job in making it again. Of course, there are always doubts when you remake an original movie but in the end everyone did a great job! My husband thought two scenes could have been better, teaching Willard how to dance and the dance at the end. He thought those didn't live up to the original and thought they could have been better with more dance moves in this age and time and having a professional dancer in the movie. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Fancy footwork makes for fun film

The film is really exceptional with great acting and good music. With this combination of dance and story telling the results great fun entertainment. It has good messages and it speaks to the teenage and adult crowd. Overall I say it is a must see!

Couldn't sit still

I knew the story of footloose before I went to this re-make. I want to go just to see the dancing, as I thought it would be good. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was one of the best movies I've ever attended. There were places where I cried--but then I cry easily. Throughout the movie I couldn't sit still. I am not a dancer, but I wanted to dance along throughout the show. It is a story where the good guys win and the bad guys loose, but you still tended to (in your head) boo the bad guys and cheer the good guys. It was so good my friend and I considered going back to see the next show. This is definitely a movie for my collection.

They did a good job!

I enjoyed this movie and Julianne Hough (used to be on Dancing With the Stars) did a great job as Ariel. In fact, I think she played this role much better than the original actress who played Ariel. However, there can only be one Kevin Bacon and he owned/owns the role of Ren McCormick. Still, this new guy playing Ren (Kenny Wormald) did well and he truly can dance!
I would NOT recommend this movie for kids. There's a lot of suggestive dancing (grinding), a sexual scene (between Ariel and Chuck), and violence where Ariel is abused by Chuck. There's also sexual jokes, joint smoking, drag racing with buses, and some cursing.
If you liked the original Footloose, I don't think this one will disappoint you. It's a more modern twist on the original, but I wouldn't say it's better. It's made with the same spirit of the original and you'll recognize all your favorite songs. I didn't leave the theater feeling I'd wasted my money.... no regrets here!

Worst movie ever!

Boring, lame, stupid! Worst movie I ever saw! Not enough dance to make up for lame & boring delivery! Total waste of an afternoon. I wouldn't recommend wasting 2 hours stittin through it even if it were 3
