Denzel Washington's performance, as always, was exemplary, perhaps more so than the script itself, which started strong with the most frightening crash sequence I've ever seen, but slowly declined into Predictableville with Washington, as Captain Whip Whitaker, a functioning alcoholic and substance abuser, continuing to live in denial of his addictions. On the one hand,he is a hero, having saved all but 4 of the people onboard the failing aircraft by landing the plane safely in a field. On the other hand, because he is a well-functioning longtime alcoholic and substance abuser, he believes he can stop anytime, that he has no addiction. Again and again, we watch painfully as he falters and fails, which I personally found very uncomfortable to observe. John Goodman, with a small part as a friend/drug dealer was hilarious. Decent movie, great acting by all of the supporting actors. If I had to pick the best thing about the movie? Of course, Denzel Washington.

the movie 'flight' is an excellent movie. the cast caliber of acting is super, but, I must
give special applauses for the extraordinary acting performance done by Denzel

Not to many movie producers make a good movie that someone can actually learn something from but this was one of them and they picked the best actors as well as actresses to play the roles in this movie. I would suggest everyone seeing this movie because not only did Denzel make you feel the heart of this movie. He did an amazing job as always, but he played the character above and beyond. I believe this man should win an oscar for the character he played. This movie was more than the character because it was more about the message the producer and actors sent out. Watch it because it will change your life or have you thinking about your life in a way you never did before.

I liked the movie but didn't love it as much as I anticipated. Too much typecasting. Denzel played Denzel, John Goodman played whacky John Goodman. The ending was no surprise, really
It is definetly worth a trip to the theater. The in flight scenes should be seen on a big screen. The best part of the movie.

I love Danzel, and expected to see exciting movie about hero who uses his extreme skills and experience to save many, but instead got a lot of film about smoking, drinking, snorting, that seemed to say to audience that we should imediately start crying and stand up and say "I am an Alcholic... etc.
It was painful to watch the repeaded apologies that all had for having a drink.
On the postive side, some great full nude scenes at the opening made it almost worth going to see, but that lasted barely a couple minutes.
Go see some other flick. is my reco.
