Great Movie. I enjoyed the movie from start to finish. The audience even applauded in the end which I think is dorky but it was very well played out by Denzel and John Goodman. Not for kids.

An interesting chracter analysis. A hero that saves so many lives, while at the same time he's a functioning alcholic and drug user. He's not a very likeable character, and yet he accomplishes something amazing. All in all worth the price of admission

Probably one of Dentzel Washington's best performances - Oscar Candidate

Very good character development, great directing, great story. I know alcoholic's very well and I can empathize with Whip Whithaker struggles - his lows and his highs - the euphoria of the Cocaine high - thinking that we are invincible. How people destroy themselves and every one around them - if we let them. However, people can change. It is a personal decision and it can be done.

Flight!

I was so anxious to see this because of Denzel Washington who has made so many great movies, and then with all the drugs, sex, etc. etc. so filtered through this movie, and regardless if the moviemakers were trying to make a statement regarding who was responsible or not about the flight accident, and then finalizing the accident not caused by the drugs Denzel so addictive big time,PLUS the sexual scenes, language (can it ever be done without the "F" word?) was overwhelming big time. I was so sorry I spent the $$ to see this, and was truly surprised (in a very disappointing way) that Denzel made such a movie!

Zemeckis is back

When I initially heard Robert Zemeckis was finally returning to live-action after a decade of uninvolving motion capture, I knew I wanted to support that endeavor. After seeing Flight I can tell you he hasn't lost a step. The directing is brilliant and well matched by the powerfully conflicted performance from Denzel Washington. I've never rooted so hard for such a charismatic guy to go straight to jail. The plane crash at the beginning (that's not a spoiler, it's in the trailer) is terrifying and the vicious cycle of alcoholism is portrayed realistically. A few things I had problems with: John Goodman's comic relief drug dealer was hilarious but the tone of one of his scenes was jarring due to the song choice. The constant message straight from AA about us being powerless to the will of God was hard to swallow without the opposing opinion represented, for balance. If it weren't for the full frontal nudity this drama would appeal to the religious right.
