Animated by the Canadian cartoon firm of Rankin-Bass, this version of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland (with a bit of Through the Looking Glass thrown in) is superficially more faithful to its source than the previous Disney and Hanna-Barbera versions. Once again, Alice tumbles down the rabbit hole; once again, she encounters such bizarre characters as the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, Humpty Dumpty and the Queen of Hearts; and once again, it's all a dream. The voice actors were drawn from the same ranks heard in such earlier Rankin-Bass efforts as Frosty the Snowman and The Little Drummer Boy. Alice in Wonderland was originally seen as part of the syndicated Festival of Family Classics anthology. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
