    Fan-tastic

    by filmfreak880

I don't understand why this movie wasn't in theaters, or maybe it was but for such a short time. This movie is great whether you like star wars or not. Dan Folger is one of my favorites an i thought he did great in this movie. Although Its a bit easier to understand the little things here and there if you have seen a few of the star wars movies (for example the garbage scene).Overall this was a great movie and is definitely worth seeing and buying.

    Original buzz:

Great movie, not just for Star Wars fans

Certainly not a flick for the general public, but a funny, touching send-up of Star Wars nonetheless. There were plenty of in-jokes only SW fans will get, but you don't have to be a uber-fan to enjoy it (one of my friends who came with me doesn't know anything about Star Wars and she liked it), and there's plenty of non-SW and non-geek jokes (a few too many dumb sex jokes for my tastes, actually, but I blame Darth Weinstein for that). It does fall back on most of the typical roadtrip movie cliches, but most of them are at least done with a SW twist and some are quite hilarious. As for the much-debated cancer 'subplot', as glad as I am that they left it in, it's a little sad towards the end (Linus was my favorite character, and the best-acted in my opinion). But it ends on a happy note, and was well done for what it is. Great movie that deserved a lot more attention than it's getting.

It has it moments... but you really don't have to be a Stars Wars geek to enjoy

After numerous reviews by people stating that the movie is chocked full of inside jokes and gags only diehard Star Wars fans would enjoy I was curious to see how deep the jokes went. Truth be know it wasn't all that. Many of the jokes are pretty straight forward. The use of William Shattner I thought was pretty funny since the movie pits Trekkies verses the Star Wars fans quite a bit. There are numerous cameos in the movie from Carrie Fisher, Billie Dee Williams, Jason Mews, Kevin Smith, and the guy that played Darth Maul that I can't recall his name at the moment. All done tastefully. It's a good time movie and sure to become a cult hit.
