Thanksgiving’s in the rear-view mirror. Christmas is on the horizon. But four new pics from next summer’s Iron Man 3 have us thinking about the Fourth of July. Can we blame that amazing Iron Patriot image for putting us in the mood?
Marvel continues to tease Shane Black’s sequel with the photos, which we’re sharing below. We get an up-close glimpse of the Iron Patriot armor (which, allegedly, will be worked by James Rhodes). We get Rebecca Hall in a state of distress. And we get Pepper Potts holding Tony Stark’s mask after something terrible has happened.

Some of these images could have been pulled from the longer Iron Man 3 trailer, but it’s still helpful to pull them out and analyze them. Despite word from Marvel executives from on high that this will not be a serious movie, it looks like Stark is in for a world of hurt in the coming sequel.
Iron Man 3 will be in theaters on May 3, 2013.
