Studios usually begin looking ahead to the upcoming summer blockbuster season as we glide into the holiday movie season. It’s a way of teasing the next massive movie-going frame during an already popular movie-going season.
So as audiences pile into theaters to see Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit
on Dec. 14 (in 2D, 3D, IMAX and 48fps), they can expect to see trailers for 2013’s anticipated blockbusters.
We’ve already reported that Paramount plans to have two peeks at Star Trek Into Darkness
– a traditional 2D trailer, and a 9-minute IMAX teaser that will boast original footage from the sequel.
Now, the Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide is reporting
that a longer Man of Steel
trailer will be attached to Warner’s The Hobbit
, as well as the first tease for James Mangold’s The Wolverine
. Steve Weintraub from Collider took to Twitter
to say that “you might be disappointed” if you head to Hobbit
looking for a Wolverine
tease. But it’s possible the clip arrives online and in theaters as promised.
And that’s not all. Guillermo Del Toro has said that we’ll be seeing a Pacific Rim
trailer in theaters during December, and a teaser for the third Hangover
is expected to screen in theaters during the last week of December.
Needless to say, some of these could hit the Web before they reach theaters, but with movies of this size and scope, you really want to see them on the big screen – possibly even in IMAX – as you head into the holiday season.
