Where's The Secret World of Arriety? That is a great movie that Japan's Studio Ghibli released earlier this year. The hand-drawn animation they are known for brings magic into the mundane while also exploring loyalty and overcoming prejudice. Though I have not seen Frankenweenie or Wreck-It Ralph yet, Arriety is the best animated movie of the year. People really need to consider this for major awards later this year.

From Up On Poppy Hill is a Studio Ghibli film. So by putting that in, we still can put oscar hope in for Studio Ghibli.

You really need to see "Frankenweenie." That movie is the odds-on favorite to win Best Animated Feature this year.

ParaNorman didn't even come close to "Frankenweenie." "Frankenweenie was a much more well-developed and richer movie than "ParaNorman."

But reviews showed that ParaNorman scored better than Frankenweenie. Plus, I thought ParaNorman was a good movie but we all have opinions.

It may have been an excellent film, but it was released too early for consideration. The release date was February 17th. Right around the time the Oscar ceremony was about to begin or already took place. If a movie wants serious consideration to be nominated, it will more than likely be released between the middle of the summer or the beginning of January.
