I thought the movie was wonderful. I knew nothing about the artist and the music.and how he lived and the imagination to paint the way he did without having the surroundings that he put into the paintings. There should be more movies like this profiling other artists who did such wonderful work.

A quiet but passionate exploration of Vermeer, his contemporaries, and their depiction of music as part of the lives of the time and what it signified. Beautifully done.

Vermeer and Music

Enter the world of Vermeer and learn about the Netherlands in the 17th century. Both a wide-angle view of the time and an intimate view of the painter--his life and his art. Fascinating and moving. The paintings are brought to life by the camera and the intelligent interviews. I would have preferred more music and less talking about music. On the whole, worthwhile and enjoyable. Go!

This film was concise and interesting. It gave a snapshot into the amazing work of Vermeer and illuminated facts regarding the period in which he lived. The quality of images was outstanding. I did enjoy the film as I am a "seasoned" art educator. The content is appropriate for all ages but the movie is too long for kids and lacking in "entertaining action" to keep them focused.
