Evil Dead Remake Different but Okay,,,, Meh....

The new version with its own variety of horror missed the mark where campy yet horrific fun could have been inserted. Raimi's original early work was cult worthy, obviously. This rewrite changes the premise of a group of college kids out for a weekend of fun led by our would be hero Bruce Campbell, to a group of slightly boring well meaning friends who wish to rehab our new heroin heroine Jane Levy.0ne of the friends a know it all nurse discounts every ounce of pending evil, including the smell of dozen dead cats to withdrawal symptoms...really??? The comparison of how Bruce ends up one armed with a chainsaw from EVIL entering his body, to how Jane ends up one armed, made no sense in the new version. Neither did the use of the cabin by another family sometime between their last visit there and the timing of the new trip there for rehab. It did leave nagging questions that made no comprehensive sense. I found the original funnier yet scarier..The new rewrite does the fim no justice...

The movie was so bad. I had to walk out about halfway through. Plot is to predictable. Acting was too much of 60's b movie. I would not recommend this movie to anyone. Save your money.

A Psychopathic Fairy Tale

For fans of the evil dead genre, this pseudoremake may offer something. For non-devotes the film comes off in two ways: A nightmarish gore soaked film that attempts to take itself way too seriously. The dialogue is cardboard, the sentiment is lost on most audience members, with little backstory or investment. AND that would be OK except for the fact that these elements are not presented in a comedic, winking fashion. But do we see this movie for dramatic ambiance? No....but some may leave with their intelligence insulted, the gore and practical effects appreciated but not totally justified. It is a FUN movie, but hard to invest in.

Fitting tribute to original

Well done tribute to the original, with some interesting twists. And a much bigger budget! Scary, fun, gross....all the stuff that made Raimi's original so memorable...but far from being a shot-by-shot remake, this new movie adds a lot of interesting plot twists that change the focus--in a good way.
