This movie is great! The only "disappointment" I had, was the tree rape scene...they could've done that a lot more gruesome and intense! Which is how it should've been. My husband and I loved it. We were a bit iffy about it, bc it's a remake...and a lot of horror remakes just do not do justice, but this one tops them. Great movie! Love the gore....wish bits hadn't been cut out. Go see it. It'll make you giggle! The ending was my favorite part, was surprised they showed something like that in the cinema! Yay!
Not recommend for children, lol, but I think that should be obvious

Great movie remake with a more serious horror overtone vs original movie comedy-like feel. The gore was fabulous & overall movie was well delivered. Now anxious about a Prequel or Sequel. This is definitely a must see for horror & gore fans!!! You truly won't be disappointed!!!

Gore galore, terrifying imagery, and oh so much blood!! The last 10 minutes will have your @$$ eating your theater chair, right after you've crapped your pants from everything else. Not many remakes do it for me, but this one delivers more than I could've ever expected. The actors were perfect for their roles and the directing and production were top-notch. There is absolutely nothing "feel-good" or warm & happy about this Evil Dead. It's dark, gloomy, and gut-wrenching from the get go. I probably would NOT take children under 13 and only those above 13 that can handle massive amounts of gore and blood and literally the most horrific, demonic-possession-themed images ever crafted by an obviously superb special effects team. Not for the faint at heart or fragile-minded individuals.

This movie was good and worth seeing. It kept me on edge. I would not bring the kids though as the gore is at an all time high.

The modern Evil Dead was pretty super. What it lacked in suspense, it made up for with classic horror "punch-lines" and raw, old school SFX use. Mild in it's actual scariness, the film has this really classic spooky quality that I miss in the genre--Yet, I could't help but feel like I wasn't being frightened QUITE as much as I expected to be. The trailers made it seem like I was going to be crapping demonic blood spray for a week afterward, as did the SBSW coverage...
The classic Evil Dead was honored without seeming like a parody, and the surprisingly artistic vision of Fred Alvarez (his other movies are painfully meh) stands alone, even if you have never seen an Evil Dead flick. The score was oddly, my favorite part of the movie--Which sounded like a mixture of Beetlejuice-era Danny Elfman and something from The Machinist (which composer Baños actually wrote for) . The movie AND the score was dark, yet classically--sometimes comically--punchy. I give it a 78 100. See it!
