We had a great time. It was just about everything you could hope for if you are a fan of the trilogy. All the characters were great, the ending took me by surprise even though some one had given it away to me. I'll have to get the DVD becasue I covered my eyes a few times! But fun fun fun, scary, scary, scary!

I thought this was going to be a horror movie, but it turned out to be a gory movie. It was not scary at all, just disgusting.

Great movie remake with a more serious horror overtone vs original movie comedy-like feel. The gore was fabulous & overall movie was well delivered. Now anxious about a Prequel or Sequel. This is definitely a must see for horror & gore fans!!! You truly won't be disappointed!!!

Horror Classic puts the B back in reBoot---

The modern Evil Dead was pretty super. What it lacked in suspense, it made up for with classic horror "punch-lines" and raw, old school SFX use. Mild in it's actual scariness, the film has this really classic spooky quality that I miss in the genre--Yet, I could't help but feel like I wasn't being frightened QUITE as much as I expected to be. The trailers made it seem like I was going to be crapping demonic blood spray for a week afterward, as did the SBSW coverage... The classic Evil Dead was honored without seeming like a parody, and the surprisingly artistic vision of Fred Alvarez (his other movies are painfully meh) stands alone, even if you have never seen an Evil Dead flick. The score was oddly, my favorite part of the movie--Which sounded like a mixture of Beetlejuice-era Danny Elfman and something from The Machinist (which composer BaƱos actually wrote for) . The movie AND the score was dark, yet classically--sometimes comically--punchy. I give it a 78 100. See it!

Evil Dead Remake Different but Okay,,,, Meh....

The new version with its own variety of horror missed the mark where campy yet horrific fun could have been inserted. Raimi's original early work was cult worthy, obviously. This rewrite changes the premise of a group of college kids out for a weekend of fun led by our would be hero Bruce Campbell, to a group of slightly boring well meaning friends who wish to rehab our new heroin heroine Jane Levy.0ne of the friends a know it all nurse discounts every ounce of pending evil, including the smell of dozen dead cats to withdrawal symptoms...really??? The comparison of how Bruce ends up one armed with a chainsaw from EVIL entering his body, to how Jane ends up one armed, made no sense in the new version. Neither did the use of the cabin by another family sometime between their last visit there and the timing of the new trip there for rehab. It did leave nagging questions that made no comprehensive sense. I found the original funnier yet scarier..The new rewrite does the fim no justice...
