None of the same right notes that it's predecessor(s) struck to make it a cult classic, Fede Alvarez still manages to present a fine homage. Along with some great looks from Aaron Morton, Robert Gillies production design and the Makeup Department, this reboot delivers where Raimi wanted to in the very first.
Staying well clear of "remake", it's a rare reboot worth the money.

This version is so gory, the original version is more like a PG version now. No jerky humor in this one. If you are an Evil Dead fan or even a true gore fan, you must see this one. A couple of references from original movie during the movie and after the credits.

Way, way too much blood. There was too much people losing body parts and maybe two places that made me jump. I was very disappointed. I should have spent my money to go see scary movie 5.

If your wanting to see a GRUESOME Flick .. go see it..By far the original Evil Dead was absolutely scary! this one had more blood, and gore. Not a "heart beating wana run out of theatre type " . Have to give props to the makeup artists though.. Serious Evil Dead faces you will not forget about when you have to take that late night trip to the restroom!! LOL

Maybe we've become desensitized to gore? But I actually found myself bored. Character development and atmosphere was not really let to develop much, with this movie pretty quickly becoming nothing more than a gore freak show.
So maybe it's worth seeing if you just want gore...but it's lacking much of anything else. IMO the original "Evil Dead" was much better even if slightly less blood spattered.
