As a Horror Movie: It's about time someone made a cohesive scary movie in which the who, what, where, why, and whens are all tied up enough not to nag at you during and after the movie. Setting and plot are unoriginal but very well executed. Why 5 people would be in a creepy cabin in the woods never made more sense.
As an Evil Dead Movie: While in some ways this is a remake of the original Evil Dead, this movie goes full tilt on creepy tension and scares. It's not as campy as previous Evil Deads, but there are several scenes that will make you laugh. Even though this movie stands on its own two legs, there are quite a few nods to the originals that fans will recognize.
Evil Dead proves you can recycle a worn out horror film idea and make it fresh and exciting for those that love the genre and for those that have been waiting for one that made sense.
There is a special treat for fans of the series after the credits.
If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

Its been forever since I seen the original movie, and to be honest, I remember bits and pieces, remember it being comedy mixed with a little scary ....... This EVIL DEAD is not that at all. Right off that bat am going to say this is the best scary movie I have seen in a long time, I did like the movie MAMA, but to me, this was a bit over the top of that one. They got right to the point in this movie, they didnt waste the time of introduction and driving out to the scene, it starts at the scene. They dont waste with sex scenes, or drug party scene, or even drinking scene ..... they dive right into the movie, and keep you on your toes from the beginning to the end. They did it right with the actors/actresses also, to me they all did a great job acting in this movie, and the plot was a very good plot. The scares in this movie are more of gore, and the great special effects that deliver the gore. I was glad to see a real scary movie, and would give this 3 1/2 out of 4 stars myself :)

VERY BLOODY! I thought it was exciting, loved the gore, it kept my heart racing. Not much to say about the acting--but, it's a slasher film so you're not going to the theater for the acting skills, right? Very creepy demonic characters......if you like gore, excitement, and plenty of crazy scenes with demons on the attack--you must go see!

Evil Dead will scare the pants off of anyone who is afraid of demonic/possession films. I ( THANK THE LORD ) am not one of those people or I would be curling up with cubby, my teddy bear from my childhood right now. However...even if it doesn't scare you (which most is will terrify beyond belief and scar for many nights to come) this is a terrific horror film and probably one of the best I've ever seen. I'm not a big fan of the traditional terrible comic relief in horror films ...I think it took away from Evil Dead and didn't want you to take it too serious at times for whatever reason. I prefer a realistic horror film that when I leave and walk through my dark house I'm thinking WOW this could happen to me right now!!
Evil Dead is the most graphic and demented film I've ever seen and that is what made me love it. And I won't spoil anything, but I was praying it would end the way it did....anyone else from what the book said hoped it would end with that??? MOVIE IS BAD ASS!

Being a HUGE fan of the Evil Dead trilogy, I personally cannot give this movie anything less then a "must go". The director held true to the notorious evil dead blood drenched images, taunting demons, and referenced evil dead 1 and 2 perfectly. There is a lot more background story to this movie, which I was not expecting. Overall, EPIC. If you are a true Evil Dead fan you will love the numerous references; chainsaw hand anyone? If you have not seen the 1981 classic, I strongly suggest you do before seeing this movie. Either way, this movie has an amazing amount of gore. The final scene was exactly what every evil dead fan wanted to see. People cheered. GO!
*STAY UNTIL AFTER THE CREDITS* ... definitely worth seeing!
