I'm not much of a moviegoer -- I'm much more the homebody who rents from Redbox. I definitely don't usually shell out big bucks to sit through kiddie movies. But when my daughter was unable to go to Six Flags this past weekend with her brothers due to a scheduling conflict, I had to find a comparable "girls day" activity to keep her from major meltdown. My daughter-in-law suggested we catch a movie and the rest is history.
As far as kiddie movies goes, Epic was very entertaining. There was a well-thought-out plot and subplot (no spoilers from me!), and the animation was visually pleasing. There were enough action scenes to hold my interest and inferences that an adult would pick up on to keep me snickering throughout the flick. It may be a bit on the "kiddie chick flick" side for the boys, but again, there was plenty of action (read: fight scenes) to hold their interest as well. I have to say I enjoyed my girls' day with my little girl, who's a bit of a character herself.

but as soon as we left he said that he loved the movie and wanted to go back and see it again right then. i thought he didn't watch any of it and wanted to get his chance. that is until he began telling me about the movie. it was good to watch something that caught the attention of my daughter, mother-in-law, and myself. we will probably get this when it hits dvd. oh yeah, we knew nothing about the movie when we arrived. i am happy to say the plot was good. if you watch as much as i do you could see somethings coming. favorite part was watching the dad in slow motion. lol

It was a good movie, not great. Kids were entertained and the plot was interesting enough. This movie might be a little intense for younger 4-7 year olds, so I'd caution there.
One thing with voice acting that bothers me is when they cast people who are let's say casual in life and on screen it doesn't quite match the persona. There may have been a couple of misfires in the casting. Did not care for Beyonce as the queen at all.

My 9yo son says it is extremely epic. My 4yo daughter loved the queen and the beauty of the movie. (The queen is a terrific character for building strong girls.) If you have kids who are sensitive to warfare, it's not the movie for them. I enjoyed the action and the relationship issues between MK and her dad, so I was entertained as well as my kids.

Fairly good show, never got bored. Although it was a bit corny in places, and maybe just a little predictable. Great scenery throughout, defiantly worth seeing.
