Epic 3D

First 40 minutes are tediously boring. I almost feel asleep. Second half is better but nothing amazing. 3D was Ok but not the best I've seen. Probably too high level a story for under 6. My son is 8 and liked it but didn't love it, and we see almost every PG or G movie which is released and appropriate for him. Beyonce shouldn't be acting if this is any indication of her acting skills. The other characters were nicely done.

Great Movie

This is a really great movie. The voice acting is very well done, the animation is extremely good, and the story is very well-adapted to this style of telling. We laughed, we cried, we jumped, we got caught up in the flow of it all. The 3D effects were very well done. If it were just the movie I was rating, I'd give it the top rating, but there's a problem. The problem is, you're going to be in a theater full of kids. Your seat will get kicked. Your seat will get grabbed and shaken. Some little brat will HAVE to put their fingers in front of the projector. A significant portion of them will arrive with their parents several minutes into the feature film itself (after 15 minutes of previews) and have to crowd around you when there are TONS of open seats elsewhere. When they leave it will look like a pack of dogs at play tore through a popcorn machine without stopping to eat. Anyway, you get the idea. Go to a late show, like the one that starts around 11:30 PM. I sure wish I had.

Very slow start! I almost fell asleep a few times. I was with a group of 9 eleven yo girls and we had the theater to ourselves. We watched it in 3-D. It failed to hold their attention for most of the movie. I was disappointed. However, I am willing to see it again on DVD.

Dragged on an on...

The acting was mediocre, at best. Beyonce might be the worst voiceover actor to ever walk the planet. I thought she was hard to listen to in real life, this took her murder of the English language to a whole new level. Maybe she can lip sync her part next time? The story took too long to develop. The animation was great, very sharp and clever. 3D was overdone, but its overdone in every movie. I thought the Colin Farrell character was the most compelling, and you see him the least. Good way to kill time with the kids, they really liked it, but I would avoid future movies with any of these cast members in the future.
