End of Watch, but could watch over and over

    by Darkola

This was a really good movie all around, beginning with the acting, both Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña did a great job, very believable characters, who as partners, became vey much in the same sense brothers in their own way in which the looked out for each other, and each others families. The plot also was really good, and the time they took to show them as partners on other police calls leading up to the plot. The movie takes the time also to throw in alot of comedy, which fits the style of the movie, that keeps you laughing at times. The movie shows how these officers do their daily routines, and how they put their lifes on the line for many of the calls they take, and it also shows their relationships with their families, and the prices that are paid for having their line of work. The only real fault I have is them using their own cameras to film, never was a fan of that in movies, but thats just my opinion, other then that, I'd give this 3 1/2 stars out of 4 ... Enjoy :)

    Another Great Cop Movie

If you like cop movies, are a cop, or even in hopes of being a cop one day, this is a movie that you must see. Shows you the life of what law enforcement officers face each day. Though some of the portrayal of cops is a bit far fetch in regards to a couple of actions most of the other stuff is pretty close to the uncertainty that one may find in that career. Movie is full of action, comedy, drama, and a hint of romance.

    End of Watch

My husband and I saw this on our last date night. It was a perfect combination of action, drama, and comedy. They did a great job of showing how your partner becomes part of your family.

85% Accurate portrail of Shooten Newton

    by burdy13

I saw this movie last month and I loved it.. I was a Newton cop for many years and they filmed at the station, well the patio and the parking lot are Newton... the rest is a set. They had a special viewing for over a 150 Newton Coppers...even though we're LAPD, Newton is a special place.

They did a great job portraying the camaraderie between the cops, very true to life. All the locations and the houses they went into are legitimate Newton houses. They had the terminology down and for the most part it was really accurate. They gave the gangsters to much credit and the women cops were a little to hard... but other then that it was awesome!!!

    Very entertaining

Kind of what I expected from the trailer. Good dialogue between the two main characters and lots of good laughs in between some good action scenes. Definitely worth seeing

This movie us a must see . Gives you the harsh reality that people actually go through and grabs your undivided attention. It puts you in their shoes and makes your mind start going to work . Could.not have chosen better actors for this movie . I recommend 15 and over for violence reasons .

    MUST SEE!

This is even better than going to your niece's quinceañera! I was expecting "just another cop movie." That's not End of Watch. OMG. As a California native I can tell you, this is as real as it gets. This movie had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was not predictable in the least and the ending...well, you'll just have to go and see. Incredible film - a definite MUST SEE.

    True to the Blue

    by

If you are looking for a family friendly movie with great cinematic views and movie score, this one is not for you. However, if you are looking for a poignant human interest story that takes a look into two human being's lives, who just happen to be partners on the LAPD; this is a GREAT movie!

The acting is Superb! Their is also a good amount of humor sprinkled in, which is true to real life as a cop. The filming style is unique and puts you right in the middle of the action. The movie does an outstanding job of showing the intensity and violence of the job. The subject matter is intense. The language is about as foul and vulgar as you will find in a movie. It has an R rating for a reason.

I loved the movie! And I find it interesting that my 21-year-old daughter loved the movie too. It had my full attention throughout. It made me laugh; it made me squirm, and even made me cry! But most of all, it made me proud of the men and women who comprise the "Thin Blue Line!"

    End of Watch

I thought the movie was good, they were doing their job and run into something big and you'd think it wouldn't get any better but something else much bigger happens. It was a good movie.

    Shaky Camera Annoying and Distracting

This is a good movie with POOR photography. The idea that a moviegoer wants to sit for two hours watching a shaky hand held camera is a piss-poor one.

It is a shame that this good story line and excellent actors were wasted with this notion that was distracting and annoying from the first until the end.

    Disappointing

THE best cop buddy movie in recent memory.

Not a perfect movie, some miscasting with a female banger came across as weak and too forced but the main focus was on Gyllenhall and Pena who are fantastically believable as partners first and macho hotshot cops 2nd. For ONCE I liked the handycam style of filming for most of the film here. Hate it for almost all other movies, especially those damn "Paranormal" flicks, but here it adds to the "grit" of southcentral LA perfectly and the believability of casual banter while on patrol. Not a "perfect" movie, some of the plot points stretch credulity and it ALMOST crosses it over from a film to a mindless actioner at one point, but then it reigns it back in. Overall excellent film.

    Great Movie

    by

This movie was great. However, I thought the ending was a little abrupt. Jake Gyllenhal's character promised to look after Micheal Pena's character's family if something were to happen to him, This movie just ends at the memorial. It could flash forward to the two families intertwining. As for the language, well, what do you expect from thugs? The kid with the swear jar would have made out like a bandit though!:) Photography was a little shaky at times.

    Well narrated, realistic action drama.

    by AKFAN

I was skeptical about how and whether I would enjoy a movie shot by handheld cameras. I loved the experience of watching the entire film, except some cheesy dialogue. The camaraderie and friendship shown between the two main characters is very 'scripted', but the cinematography, direction and casting (especially the gangs) pull together to compel a very immersed experience in cinema. I was reminded of the show COPS, from time to time, with a story and a good looking crew of characters.

    The Pluses: Cinematography, Direction, Casting
The minuses: Largely Predictable Storyline, Cheesy Screenplay, Art Direction

Warning: If you are prone to nausea from watching shaky film footage, this is one movie you might want to sit out.

    COPS SACRIFICE...

I LIVE IN CHICAGO,... WHERE CRIME NEVER STOPS. SO YOU GET YOUR CROOKED COPS, YOU GOT THE COPS THAT GO BY THE BOOK,.. THEN YOU HAVE THE COPS THAT ARE ABOUT HELPING THEIR COMMUNITY. THESE COPS IN THE "END OF WATCH" ARE THOUGHS TYPE OF COPS. THEIR ARE PARTS IN THE MOVIE WHERE YOU JUST SAY TO YOUR SELF "WHAT THE FAACK?" THEN YOU COME TO THINK, YEAH YEAH I CAN SEE THAT HAPPENING HERE IN CHICAGO. CRACK HEADS, DRUNKS, GANG BANGING. THESE COPS ARE BEST OF FRIENDS AND THEY MAKE IT CLEAR TO EACH OTHER, "YOU DIE AND ILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY FOR LIFE". I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND I CANT WAIT UNTIL I CAN GET IT ON DVD/BLUE RAY.
