For science fiction aficionados, and those who have read one or more of this series by Orson Scott Card, I think you will find this film to be very close to the story line. For me, seeing the scenes in the battle school were brilliant. They turned out to look quite a bit like I imagined them when I read the book. As to the ending, it seems they left it open to sequels: Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, Children of the Mind and Ender in Exile.

The production of Ender's Game does good justice to the original book by Orson Scott Card. It isn't exact -- there's no way to make it exact in a single film without making it so incredibly long as to make it unwatchable -- but that does not detract too much from an otherwise excellent screenplay adaptation. One of those things will bite them in the butt when or if they decide to make "Speaker For The Dead" into a film, namely the Earthly subplot of Peter and Valentine Wiggin, which is not ventured into to any degree. It will have to be a significant part of the exposition of the next film if a major hole is to be plugged.
One thing you can, however rest easy on -- the dramatic intent of the original book is PRESERVED. If you liked the book, you'll like the movie.
DO NOT allow asinine boycotts of Card keep you from seeing this film. It would do the actors a grave disservice if you did; THEY were excellent, and the film deserves to stand on its own in that regard.

I never read the book, so these characters are unknown to me. A lot of the story makes no sense to me--it's like a lot of pieces are missing. Ender comes across like a very smart kid one second and a winey one the next. There is zero character development, if that means something to you. I like this movie strictly from the love of the strategy Ender employs throughout the movie. I remember my sister talking about how much she loved the book, I just don't see it in this movie unlike The Hunger Games, which impressed me so much I went out and bought all the books to read. Ender's Game is an "ok" movie but nothing special.

I may not have read the book, I really enjoyed this movie. You really got to know his struggle and understand his view of his life in being who he was and what he had to go through to surpass expectations. Love to see again.

Excellent Movie. Not as good as the book, but does a good job of keeping the entire story intact. Battle room scenes are amazing! Stands on its own as a great sci-fi movie.
