This movie had so much potential. However, the message was muddied with a political agenda that only the most vapid intellect could miss. How do I get my money back for a poor entertainment investment?

Terrible movie . . . for an "overcrowded dirty Earth" - the only two characters had their own place. No one looked sickly or starving, they only seemed to be lacking decent medical coverage.
Elysium was given almost zero portrayal, except for robot servants, champagne and a hot chick in a red bathing suit that inexplicably used her med-bay unit to change her hair color. Every house on Elysium had a "med-bay" unit . . . and yet, at the rushed conclusion of the movie - Elysium had EMS shuttles equipped with dozens of med-bay units each. To what emergency were they going to respond to on Elysium?
Far too heavy-handed "haves" vs. "have-nots" health care debate. Jodie Foster, with an odd clipped accent, was wasted here. Alice Braga played the same role with the same depth as Elpidia Carrillo in Predators, or Maria Conchita Alonso in The Running Man. Matt Damon does his Keanu Reeves impersonation, and Sharlto Copley chews scenery while spewing mostly unintelligible dialogue

I went not expecting a lot and was completely wowed by the visuals in the film. Solid acting, great costumes.
Good plot , very much in line with great story telling.
Set design , superb.
and quite frankly very entertaining. I know many people post on here for fun or even pay. I do not and I have personally seen 4000 films in the last 20 years. This on is worth the 2 hours I promise

Interesting and compelling. Don't be fooled by the critics and nay say-ers! It's another great movie by Blomkamp. Copley's character is intense. Jodie Foster is ice cold! Entertaining all the way around. Damon was on point. Great balance between good action and special effects. I love that most of the actors aren't the Hollywood regulars again, because they are awesomely talented. It's a provacative message. I will definitely see it again... Next time on IMAX.

By now you know the premise. What would earth look like if the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow? So the stage is set for someone to put things right, and as it should be, the hero needs to be the most unlikely and not only must he save the world, but he saves himself in the process. Predictable? Very. But when familiar plots are done with excellent performances, great directing and not over using special effects letting the characters carry the story, it works. Just the kind of summer delight you are looking for. Go see it.
