There's a lot more to this film than meets the eye. Great cinematography and special effects....but the sociology and technological points of view presented could be a stark preview of coming societal phenomena. The dystopian atmosphere was not presented
in such a way that it would be inappropriate for younger viewers.
Sci-fi at its best. The acting was believable, the story was imaginative, the directing was superb...this guy knows what he's doing.

Neill Blomkamp in a few short years has become one of the best writer/directors of Sci-Fi in a long time. If you saw District 9, just go.. Visually since District 9 was based in 2010 in an alternate universe, nothing says the Elysium world of 2154 couldn't be the same world. Is this an action flick YES, does the action drive the plot.. NO. As in District 9, the violence and action are part of the story, but not what drives the story. Blomkamp does a great job of balancing the morality tale, with great special effects, and a driven purpose by the lead character. Much like Ridley Scott in Blade Runner.. the "world" you find yourself in seems to be real, so the movie is about the story and the characters and not the place and time its set in.

There was no nudity in this film whatsoever and no one came on matt damon's bald head. I cannot figure out why because it would have been so easy to wipe it off. Oh and the movie was decent too. Sharlto Copley was a bad ass. They thankfully killed Jodie Foster. Another thing, why wasn't Ben Affleck in this movie? He would have been great as a character named Cockso the raping robot policeman. Maybe he'll show up as this character in Elysium 2.

Special effects were used to fill the void where the plot should have been. This movie might have worked as a short but not as a full feature film.

I love Matt Damon and he was really great in this movie (as he is in all his movies). Jodie Foster was great too. My husband and I both loved the this movie. It is definitely a MUST GO.
