Although Elysium is not on the level of Blomkamp's District 9, it does hold its own in the sci-fi genre, combining compelling storytelling with riveting action sequences.

the basic plot was excellent the storyline awesome, all the things you expect from this director. Only a couple of things *bugged* me. Why is the only job available are in a robot factory to make not even very good robots. So the pay was so bad he lived like everyone else? Second... the healthcare issue was obviously the main concern in the movie.. but there was so much more.. and should have at least been touched on. Overall after all the hype I thought the movie was so so.. but having said that I'm certainly glad we went to see it.

In short, if you don't like acting and prefer an UltraMan movie, go see Pacific Rim. This movie is meant for someone who can think. Neanderthals need not waste time. You need to be a minimum of a cro-magnum to get the movie. I think a lot of the problem with people not liking it, based on the reviews I've read, is that it hits a little to close to home. Action scenes were freakin cool

"The IMAX Experience" isn't. It's the normal theater aspect ratio and doesn't come close to filling the screen of an IMAX theater.
Jodie Foster was particularly disappointing. Weird accent, crappy character, melodramatic, and just not the Jodie Foster who is usually pretty awesome.
The camera shaking is overdone.
Storyline is OK, but just.
After watching Pacific Rim: the IMAX Experience, I was pretty underwhelmed by this movie.
