Cool concept, poorly executed plot

Cool concept here, but most of the movie was spent building a plot that was easily predicted in the first 5 minutes of the movie. The rest of the time was just watching everything happen exactly as planned. Most of the film was shot in the slums, and the cool visuals were only a few minutes long combined. Lastly, the whole poor people rebelling over the rich is getting a bit too played out in Hollywood right now. We get it, us 99% generate most of the movie tickets sales, so you are supposed to play to our anger towards the system. "Workers of the world, Unite!" Since when did Hollywood become communist? Do we really expect an over populated planet to all get citizenship on space station? Why did they install a metal jacket into his spine over his t-shirt? Matt Damon was okay, but he should pick better films. Could have had a B-lister for this role and saved some money.

"The IMAX Experience" isn't. It's the normal theater aspect ratio and doesn't come close to filling the screen of an IMAX theater. Jodie Foster was particularly disappointing. Weird accent, crappy character, melodramatic, and just not the Jodie Foster who is usually pretty awesome. The camera shaking is overdone. Storyline is OK, but just. After watching Pacific Rim: the IMAX Experience, I was pretty underwhelmed by this movie.

This movie was absolutely horrible. My husband and I walked out after the first 45 minutes. Can't believe that Matt Damon made this garbage. They must have thrown a lot of money at him. Very disappointed.

Visually stunning. Some plot dead ends like suspiciously vacant houses on Elysium - a condition that could have been explained away with one scene. Jodie Foster didn't ruin it, though is still playing the same role she has for 20 years. Matt Damon, also playing "his" character didn't ruin it either. Nice premise, super shots, well done for the directory - the "names" will attract for him.

Film is a masterpiece - effects top notch - attention to detail - story original and a wild ride from start to finish. Couldn't recommend it more, unless you haven't seen district 9, which could tid you over until you see this.
