The Movie seeing in IMAX was amazing the SFX, it is as real as it can be and how the future might look in 140 years.
Unfortunately the characters were not well developed, you don't really connect with most of them but they are all good actors.
For me beyond the SFX in a sfi story and the story itself, I like to connect with the characters the Good ones (what brought them to do the things they are doing )and the Bad ones (I like to really hate them because of all the bad things they do.)
There were good and bad characters but there was no depth to them. A lot of friends that saw the movie also felt that way.
District 9 in my opinion had a much better character (main character) development.
I would still recommend it because is a beautiful (visually speaking) movie to see and the story is interesting.

Elysium is a blatant, in-your-face, 2X4 between the eyes, political hack job. No wonder Matt Damon and Jodie Foster signed on for this claptrap movie. Forget the sic-fi genre, forget the special effects. This puppy is all about class warfare and sticking it to the wealthy. Few political message films have been this overtly partisan.
The Chinese communists have their reeducation camps where dissidents learn how to be good communists. In the U.S. our reeducation camps are movie theaters where you go to watch Oliver Stone and Matt Damon movies.

Although Elysium is not on the level of Blomkamp's District 9, it does hold its own in the sci-fi genre, combining compelling storytelling with riveting action sequences.

the basic plot was excellent the storyline awesome, all the things you expect from this director. Only a couple of things *bugged* me. Why is the only job available are in a robot factory to make not even very good robots. So the pay was so bad he lived like everyone else? Second... the healthcare issue was obviously the main concern in the movie.. but there was so much more.. and should have at least been touched on. Overall after all the hype I thought the movie was so so.. but having said that I'm certainly glad we went to see it.
