Ed Wood Review

hilarious ... an absolutely outstanding biopic and a wonderful tribute to 1950's sleaze. This is a film that feels for the passion, creativity, and vision of film-making (even in the most bizarre and oddly optimistic circumstances) . And Martin Landau is fantastic in his role as Bela Legosi. (4.5/5 stars)

"A Genius with no Talent" : ED WOOD

Tim Burton's homage to Edward D. Wood, Jr.; purveyor of hideously hilarious movies of the late 50s is nothing short of tremendous. Never slandering the virtuoso of sleaze, Burton along with Johnny Depp's nuanced performance similarly pay tribute to the man in an alternately funny and touching ways. Martin Landau gives the performance of his career as the aging, drug-addicted Bela Lugosi who is befriended by Wood and given a chance for somewhat of a comeback. Such vivid recreations of the time and place, not to mention the beautifully enhanced black & white photography that emulates a Wood flick to the tee! Billy Murray, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jeffrey Jones along with others make great contributions to the breezy situations that surrounded this most infamous of Hollywood!
