    Surprisingly fun

Pretty fun. Would certainly have done some things differently, and there were lost opportunities, etc., but overall a fun popcorn experience.

    Dredd Action Packed

When I see a film from Lionsgate, I usually have the phrase "action packed" come to mind. Dredd definitely did the phrase justice. From beginning to end, Dredd's action sequence keep the action junky at the edge of his/her seat. The brutality of some of the scenes are not for the feint of heart. Do not see this movie if graphic violence makes you queezy. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars in the action genre and a 4 out of 5 in the overall movie experience.

    Over delivered!

    by

I thought it was going to be a high res version of some sci-fi channel crap, but I was blown away! It wasn't cheesy, it's wasn't bland, or too brainless killing-ish. It was solid, the characters were good, the plot held water, and the action was superb.

I honest thought this would royally suck, but was very very happily surprised!

Remake? What remake? ... Forget the old one all together!

I was particularly mad leaving this film. Not at it. But at myself. I had already conceded on the fact that I wouldn't be needing to see this in 3D. But don't make the same mistake I did. Go watch this one with the funny glasses. This is one of those that doesn't exploit 3D for the sake of the thing. I can see how it would actually work well. The visuals are undeniably cool. And it's obvious much preparation went in its delivery.
I am sadly old enough to compare this one to the original one with Arnold. And it is by far a better narrative piece. Sure, back then it was the bells and whistles of the scifi angle, the Sharon Stone, and the Arnold bit. So we were all pretty well distracted. But now that time has passed... Screw that one. This one has testicles.

    Honestly... It was amazing!

    by Yuk1soN

I went to see Looper instead of Dredd, which proved to be a big mistake. Dredd was absolutely brilliant! Admittedly, while it may not be the ideal movie for a date, I was thoroughly impressed with the film's simplicity and directness, because it actually worked... Not to mention the fantastic costumes and effects. I was just loving those "slo-mo" shoot out scenes, and I also really appreciated the modern soundtrack, it was banging and went well with the action.

    Plotless

and totally no storyline. Not even close to up to par with the original Judge Dredd which was played well by Stallone. Just explosions and shoot ?em ups and action. So if you don?t mind no story line but like a lot of mindless action this is the one for you.

    the raid comic book style

The title says it all. Better than your average action movie. I question a couple directorial choices that led to diffusion of tension at critical points in the movie. Still worth seeing. I'm glad they picked an actual actress rather than a model. Great casting all around.

    Intense and Violent Fun Ride

    by sirwel

Not much plot but none really needed. In an apocalyptic future where the US is over populated it makes since that chaos will abound. In a twisted way the concept of 'Judges' make sense. I do like that they added a few carrots to this remake. This is a good movie but no where near the level of the Dark Night or Avengers.

Throwback to classic Ultra Violent Films from the 1980s

    by

Dredd was the complete package from ultra violence (see Terminator, Robocop, etc) and cheesy one liners. Be warned, there are some extremely graphic imagery, most of it is hyper stylized to fit the comic book movie style guide, but a bloodbath nonetheless. The premise is simple, and you get what you know you'll see, nothing more, nothing less. They knew the film they were making and, as it is not a "hollywood" film (made outside of the country and Lionsgate brought it to the States), the filmmakers didn't try to make it anymore than it needed to be. If you are one who things that action movies today are tame compared to those of yesteryear, you must take it upon yourself to see Dredd. Go see it (we saw it 2D), enjoy the splatter, have your stomach turn sour, and laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Wulfruna I can't stop thinking about that Judge Dredd film I saw nearly a week ago. Saw Hanna last night, not nearly as good.
