Strong action, weak storyline

No question that the action was entertaining, even if the slow motion effects became tired and repetitive. Major complaint is the storyline, or lack thereof, that wasted a good cast and an opportunity to reintroduce Dredd and the surrounding characters. The plot seemed like it was written for a first person shooter video game, and played out accordingly. Overall, save the money on a theater viewing and wait for home release or inclusion in your cable package.

Last blockbuster until GI Joe in March so get out there and watch this. Plot is deeper than it looks and the action scenes are mostly shot in 3D so it takes advantage of Real D better than most movies i've seen. Don't even think about waiting for this one on Blu-Ray. Take advantage of the best cinema you have in the area.

Horrific excuse for a movie. I had the expectations of having fun with my friends seeing an action packet, cool special effects movie. What we got was more like drinking mud. Absolutely dreadful.

Dread

Another remake that tries to bring more technology to the screen. The Dredd character was never revealed as a tangible human being, i.e. you could see his face. Theater was only half full and with the exception of one scene, there did not seem to be a lot of interest. Karl Urban was decent as an actor, but more humanity in the character would have started to make it interesting. Would not every rent it or go again.

This version of Judge Dredd is a major improvement over the Stallone attempt. Good story line that does not focus on re-inventing the characters. You never see Urban's face, which is consistent with the comics. I like Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson as well. I hope this is the start of a new franchise.
