    Great Special Effects

Interesting plot with some pretty good effects. Slow motion was cool but sometimes a bit excessive. Good movie overall. I would say to see it in 3D and enjoy.

    Dredd 3D

Pretty good "re-boot"...the 3D is an important element in some of the scenes, so if you want the full effect, you should see it that way.
Good characters, pretty good dialogue with a few real "zinger" lines...
    Some unusual special effects.
    Glad I went.
I wouldn't take the kids...the violence is pretty graphic, and there's a lot of it.

This movie was awesome. I wish that they made more of this style of comic book movie. Excellent use of 3d, stylized action with the perfect amount of comedy for a violent action film.

    I wasn't impressed

    by

For starters, it was way too short!! And that's probably why the movie wasn't all that good! It looks like they tried to cram a weak storyline and a lot of blood and gore into 90 minutes. It could've been a lot better if they would've stretched it out an extra 30-45 minutes. The acting was so-so, but i did like the special 3D effects.

My advice: Wait until it comes out on DVD.

This was supposed to be better than the Sylvester Stallone version?

    by rc21839

Okay, maybe it's because I'm not up on the Dredd story to begin with, but I thought this movie was butt and can I get a refund? I can see why my son and I were the only ones in theater for a 7:10pm showing....

If you're into action...it's got plenty.....violence....got that too.....storyline? not so much.

    exactly what it should be

    by

Dredd was everything I wanted it to be. Fun, tense, violent, and very cool 3D effects! The plot is simple, nothing new. But if you want a great escape for a couple hours, it's a great choice. Too bad more people haven't come out in support of this movie because I would totally go to a sequel.

    awesome

I don't understand why some people get stock in the past, I'm sure the 90's version for some was great but this new version totally awesome, lot of shooting and awesome quotes!! It's a must see movie!!!

Must see in 3D. Love that it is new and not based off the original Dredd.

    dredd 3d

So I must admit, I love cheesy action movies. I have seen the first Dredd, terrible. The remake is amazing if you are looking for an awesome violent action flick. It's funny violence, not serious. It is the first movie worth seeing in 3D since Avatar! Stunning 3D! Mind bottling!

Did not capture my imagination as much as I hoped

Overall good movie. 3D slow motion shots were beautiful. Good soundtrack. Actors were good. Karl Urban used his face and mimics well. Amazing. On the bad side, the movie was all about violence and did not capture my imagination as much as I hoped for.

If you've seen Raid Redemption don't bother

    by millwil

An okay movie. Played out a lot like Raid Redemption and I preferred that over Dredd. The 3D is very minimal. And if you're insistent on seeing it in theaters, I'd say save your money and see the 2D version.

If you didnt like the former Dredd film. This is for you.

    by

Great script from Alex Garland mixed with great performances from Karl Urban and Lena Headly (and the rest of the cast was solid too) give this underrated early fall gem the film the character Dredd deserves.

This film easily allowed me to wipe my memory of that other unfortunate film which was a victim of a big star and a big studio.

    its alright

It was filled with corny dialogue. But it is worth seeing at the cinema. It's not a MUST SEE though. I'd watch anything with Lena Headey in it. Haha.

Phalinx666 Oh yeah and the only thing I could think about every time I saw Karl Urban in Star Trek was... THERE NEEDS TO BE A DREDD 2!

Astilius I'm not surprised they never put that Judge Minty fan filmn on teh Dredd DVD. MC1 in Minty looks a billion times better than in Dredd. Riddy
