I had mixed feelings about the movie Judge Dredd, first because the title Judge was left off. The idea of a combo-platter judge/jury executioner who uses authorized lawlessness is different. The acting was mediocre, because the actors seemed burnt out. The lines were, on a scale of 1 to 10, 5.5 and that's being nice. What I took with me was judge was left out of the title, as if those who decided on just Dredd were running away from a fact of life.
The law wins, but does damage on the clan, and lets the hacker go who putt the cop-judges in danger. Without R& D, I bet this doesn't match up as close to as it could with the comic book character of old. The women judges have their helmets off, and at least one neutral party is shot. To title it Dredd, it didn't focus on who's underneath that helmet, just the fact that he read convictions and shot people. Lots of blood that didn't look real, and 3D scenes that were of minimal impact.
Surely, Follywood can do better!!!!

I liked Dredd a great deal. This is going way back, but if you're a fan of Brandon Lee in "The Crow" you'll like this movie. Some violent scenes are a bit over the top - but the film never ventures outside of good comic book splatter. The visual effects were astoundingly good - they managed to infuse Mega-City One with a touch of grungy reality that really set the film apart from the slick CG of similar genre. I left the theater thinking I had just seen something special and look forward to seeing it again once more before it leaves the cinema. I say GO! It's worth your time and money!

Forget about that awful Sly Stallone movie (well, I guess we are all trying to). This Dredd movie has just enough comic-book feel with surprisingly good gore. Pace of the movie is just right. Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby make a great team. Nothing bad to say about this movie.

The cinematography was great...I certainly hope we aren't headed for such an existence. Also, I wouldn't bring any young kids to see this one.
...still not sure why Everything is in 3D!

But not great. Okay, it's really good. At best I'd give it a 7.5, maybe an 8/10. There wasn't that much that really stood out to me. The 3d made one or two scenes stand out, but ultimately, I think you're better off seeing the 2d version, if it's available.
