"Mama's not the Law...I'm the Law"
I was not familar at all with the Judge Dredd comics when I saw the 1995 Stallone "Judge Dredd" which I fould myself liking a little bit more than "Demolition Man' in some areas. I think Dredd had better action, an enjoyable first-two acts (despite a problematic third), and a memorable score by Alan Silvestri. While everyone else saw it was being the worst Stallone action film of the 90s, I still say"The Specialist" had less punch but it had it's charm. But we're here to talk about Dredd.
The 2012 "Dredd" has a better story. While Stallone looked like Dredd, Karl Urban on the other hand really gets into the character's head. Armand Assante's Rico was one of the best things of "Judge Dredd" as the villian. Here's it's Lena Heady as Mama, and after seeing "Game of Thrones", Heady is quite terrific and compatible at playing evil. She's so awesome to watch as these kinds of characters.
"Dredd" is the surprise best action film of the fall of 2012. And it's pretty cool in 3-D too.
